!!!- The Dis-Ease/ The Funky Branca 7” (hopscotch records 1998)

I haven’t really listened to !!! since paying $20 to see them w/o a horn section.

It kinda broke my heart.

But in preparing for WFMU’s Singles Going Steady Week I have been dinging though all my 7” trying to plan a 4 hour radio show of nothing but 7 inches. And there it was, !!!’s first 7”. I threw it on and remembered that it was like when we first fell in love.

Both Tracks are beyond brilliant. Pissed off, noisy, no wave, funk, that you have no choice but to dance to. The Funky Branca is everything that it’s title suggests. Its like James Chance and Glen Branca got really fucked up w/ Pigbag and some how shat out this amazing track.

Check this shit out and remember what young love feels like.
