Wow. Sorry I took off a few months from posting. Had to get re-inspired. This awesome lady has a lot to do with my rejuvenation.
On the way back from SXSW last month, I heard Kevin Blechdom’s Eat My Heart Out (2005, Chicks on Speed Records) for the first time and I simultaneously shit my pants and creamed my jeans. I was a mess. When I got back home one of my first orders of business was to acquire all things Kevin Blechdom. Here are the best of my findings:
4 tracks from her record Eat My Heart Out:
- Coming
- Get on Your Knees
- Runaway or Stay
- Are You Fucking With Me
2 tracks from her earlier record Bitches Without Britches:
- Boob-A-Q
- Private Dancer
2 tracks from the compilations Girl Monster and It’s fan-dabi-dozi!, respectively:
- Me Saw Me Momma
- Jon Whitney Houston
Collectively these showcase Blechdom’s unique voice and genius songwriting abilities. By far my favorite is Me Saw Me Momma, which takes so many twists and turns with the vocal lines that it’s just completely exhilarating. Anything that reminds me of Furious Pig is automatically a winner. Jon Whitney Houston is more straightforward, a bold cover of “I Will Always Love You” that doesn’t peak until about the sixth minute. When I played it on my show yesterday someone accused me of working for the CIA torture division. It’s just that good.
Thank you Kevin Blechdom for making me happy.

i’ll probably get in trouble for saying this, but i thought that was a picture of mccallister before seeing this post’s title.
