Arabian Prince: N.W.A:: Pete Best: The Beatles
Arabian Prince (aka Professor X) was Ice Cube’s stand in N.W.A. when he went off to college in Arizona. Arabian Prince was only featured on N.W.A. and The Posse (which was more of a compilation of anything Dr. Dre and Easy-E did before Straight Outta Compton) and on the 0nly clean track off Straight Outta Compton, Something 2 Dance 2.
But unlike Pete Best Arabian Prince has relevant (at least to me) solo work and is making a comeback. Releasing Brother Arab in 1989 before his work with N.W.A, and Situation Hot in 1990 which featured Dr. Dre were more both electro rap party music and Where’s My Bytches in 1993 that was straight up gangsta.
Gangsta Arabian Prince
As for the comeback he is going back to more of an electro sound and has released his first new music in 14 years on Stone’s Throw and Clone Records. Arabian Prince is also credited as a writer on everyone’s favorite urine soaked pop star Fergie’s mega hit Fergalicious.
So as always here are a few of my favorite tracks as well as his new stuff!
Enjoy.
