So this is basically one of the best albums of all time. Definitely one of my favorites, an IVOR classic. I’ve been playing this fucker since it came out years ago.

Boneyard 2 by Cockfight is a real triumph. Dirty country mixed with bizarre computer voices, slide guitar and electronics. There’s so many great songs on this record. My personal favorite is “Hung” which is the longest song on the record and is a slow-moving piano/slide guitar jam until the computer voice comes in and takes over the vocals, then continues for a minute after the music ends rattling off dozens of phrases that have the word “cock” in it. It’s beyond great.

Also, it should be noted that the ending track, which I have been calling “Yoga Kid” (since it is titled with an equation of symbols that I can never remember) is a computerized retelling of the story of Karate Kid but changing the story to reflect the “true nature of yoga.” It’s a wonderful piece of work.

Cockfight is one of the hundreds of offshoots of the greatest rock band of all time, Friends Forever. The brains behind Cockfight is the third member of Friends Forever, Jason, who played keyboards and The Party Machine. The very few times I spoke to him, he was very funny, a little shy and extremely happy that I loved Cockfight. I am very sad to have missed the Cockfight/DJ Spinshits! show that toured around not too many years ago. What a goddamned bummer. Two greats in one. Where the fuck was I?
