I know there great mystery around this album. Ashrae Fax was a psych-synth/ambiant/dance band from NC who started in the early/mid 90's. They started as a two piece and went through several amalgamations before ending up as a four piece to record their best record in my opinion, "Static Crash" in 2001 (which is t he album I believe you are speaking of). They did a few short tours before front woman Renee Mendoza and cofounder/guitarist Alex Chesney parted ways so Renee could focus on her songwriting. Alex is currnetly performing as a solo noise/experimental artist under the name "Faster Detail" and Renee formed southern soul/psych folk band, "Filthybird". The album is currently out of print.
