Ashrae Fax

This record makes me happy. I don’t normally go for Joy Division-ish, 80’s prom dance sequence type stuff, but I can’t help it. Some songs are much better than others, Track 4 being my favorite. If you’re not in the mood for super dreamy reverb, skip it. If you are, you should be happy like me.

I’ve been trying to find out information about this band for years now. The internet has only vague blurbs about them. I once saw this record for sale on a dinky website, but I couldn’t find it again just now.

This is from 2001 or thereabouts. 8 tracks, 28 minutes, titles unknown. Please comment if you can shed some light on this record/band.

Hello. I know there great mystery around this album. Ashrae Fax was a psych-synth/ambiant/dance band from NC who started in the early/mid 90’s. They started as a two piece and went through several amalgamations before ending up as a four piece to record their best record in my opinion, “Static Crash” in 2001 (which is t he album I believe you are speaking of). They did a few short tours before front woman Renee Mendoza and cofounder/guitarist Alex Chesney parted ways so Renee could focus on her songwriting. Alex is currnetly performing as a solo noise/experimental artist under the name “Faster Detail” and Renee formed southern soul/psych folk band, “Filthybird”. The album is currently out of print. Hope this helps….
