Whenever someone asks me if what bands I listen to, I always tell them:
FUCKING. TRILAMBS.

No joke.

I don’t know what it is about them that drives me insane with love. I can’t get enough. As far as I’m concerned It Wasn’t Not Funny is a fucking classic. Pure gold.

Matty Boom, Soon Hey, Gay Jamie and the Omega-Moos come together and make the most surreal and insanely hysterical rap record ever. Jacked samples and flows that would only make sense on a perfect combo of pills, booze and hallucinogens; the Trilambs really kill it.

I can never decide which track is my favorite. The rap in “Borderline” about the dead bloody goat hanging from the mast of a brand-new catamaran boat gets to me on so many levels. This shit is dense.

Included in the zip is:
It Wasn’t Not Funny
1. Guttenberg
2. Feel Me When I Bring It
3. Garfunkel
4. It Wasn’t Not Funny
5. Borderline
6. Submarine
7. Smoove Jams
8. Nobody Likes You
9. ????
10. Parker Posey
11. Gay Ass Club
12. Little Person Song
13. Smoover Jams
14. This Is The Beatles
15. Trilamb Party
16. Probationary Trilambs

Jacket Smasher EP
1. Catalina
2. The Mind Of Matty Boom
3. Marlon Brando
4. Trilamb Funeral
5. The Mind Of Soon Hey
6. The Ultimate (Feat. Hot Karl)

Extras
1. My Mama Doesn’t Know I’m Black
2. I Win U Lose
3. What U Got?!?
4. The Single
5. Sleep On The Trilambs

I wish I knew exact dates for everything, but I believe IWNF came out in 1999 or 2000. The Extras come from the reissue of IWNF, in which the Trilambs removed the unlicensed samples and replaced them with original music. I should find the rest of that record and put it up here, for posterity, but I remember how much less satisfying it was to hear the same songs over different music. I don’t even know now if it was bad, I just never found the need to listen to any other version of songs I think are perfect. The Jacket Smasher EP shows us a slightly more mature Trilambs. No less silly and surreal, but with slicker production and better sound effects.

There’s a pretty funny article about them from the BBC in August 2001 you can read here.

These albums have been available for free from Matty Boom’s website for many years, but the site is now down. I’ll gladly house them for as long as this site is up, for sure.

I get excited about many things, but my love of Trilambs is a mighty one.

Enjoy.

I have a copy of the old trilambs cd “It Wasn’t Not Funny.” its a different version that is way better. i’m pretty sure it was before they got sued and what now for their infringements of beats. the problem is that some of the songs have qualitiy uses. the orignal cd was scratched.

could anyone upload the better version of the cd?
